Creating Engaging Commercials for Social Media

I recently created a mini commercial for Nino’s, crafted specifically for their TikTok and Instagram. The idea behind the video was to highlight the restaurant’s lively vibe and mouth-watering dishes, while still capturing the elegance that sets Nino’s apart.

When creating a client profile, I typically start with setting a “vibe” for how my client wants the recordings to be shot. I brought the concept to Massimo, aiming to produce something that looked polished but didn’t take itself too seriously-something that felt right at home on social media but still did justice to the space and the food.

Everything was shot on a Canon T7 DSLR. I’ve been bouncing between mirrorless and DSLR setups, but lately I’ve been really enjoying the DSLR’s feel and workflow. Mirrorless have such a zoomed in feel, and with DSLR I feel like I have more lens to work with. A setting that I tried out while shooting content in a restaurant was the “Food” setting. I liked how the T7 had automatic ISO settings for any area you are creating media in. The Food button allowed for me to grab the vibrance of each dish, without having to add too much LUT in the editing process. I edited the piece in Final Cut Pro, and all the music and graphics came from Motion Array (which made the creative process a lot of fun).
